Bird photography with the 1D has been very easy attached to my 600-mm L-glass lens and a 1.3 adapter. This does not guarantee great photos but they are not bad with the quality of equipment listed above.

One reason this digital camera is perfect is the ability to take several photos in 3 seconds -- almost like a mini-movie of still images so you can catch your avian in a pose a little easier. Just be sure to get a 4GB memory card so you will not have to stop and download your card to a laptop or card reader.
