After inquiring with a few associates about what would be the best sportbike to drive on the street and take to the drag strip on Friday nights in Baytown. Everyone seems to be pointing me in the direction of the Suzuki Hyabusa.
With about the $3000.00 worth of modifications I should be able to turn mid 9's in the quarter with my 260-270lb frame on board. The Suzuki Hyabusa is a little heavier than Say the GSXR or Gixxer 1000 but it has gobs of horsepower and torque in all the right places.
I went to Woods in Austin Saturday and sat on a Hyabusa Limited (It was red, not my favorite). It seems so big compared to my middle weight SV650S. I likie how it seats you though..The hyabusa seems to be made for a larger framed person. The pegs seemed to be more centrally located than the SV. Down in the middle more than up and back like on most sportbikes.
A salesman in Houston told yours truly that I could drive out with a 2003 or 2004 Suzuki Hyabusa (0 miles) for around $11,000 USD -
Then of course about three grand in pipes, power commander, and race clutch.
-Some please pass the money ink -- I have to make 14,000 bucks in a hurry! :)
What a sweet bike.

Have you ever ridden a big bore street bike? If your only experience is the 650 I would reccomend a 750 or I hope you have a pair of leathers. The Hayabusa is alot of bike for a someone not used to it. Especially wanting to race it. The power is addicting, but once your going 150 plus on a bike it's not a casual ride anymore. What I'm tring to say is be carefull man and take it slow-the learning curve that is. Jim
